Hiring of College Personnel

POLICY STATEMENT:  It is the policy of the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees that the President has the authority to hire all College personnel (full and part-time).

The appointment of new personnel will be in accordance with provisions indicated in all bargaining unit agreements where required.  The Board of Trustees will be provided with a list of all new appointments at least once per year at a regularly scheduled Board meeting.

In addition, the President of Herkimer County Community College has the authority to re-appoint all personnel.  The President will provide the Board of Trustees with a summary list of all re-appointments on an annual basis.

Should there be a situation requiring non re-appointment of a full-time college employee, the President will bring the matter to the attention of the Board prior to taking final action.

BACKGROUND:  The employment of all full and part-time staff has been a responsibility of the President of Herkimer County Community College with periodic notification to the Board of Trustees.  Re-appointments of full-time personnel have been presented to the Board of Trustees for their approval on an annual basis.
